Sequoia National Park

Are you considering a trip to Sequoia National Park? This beautiful park is full of BIG things - giant trees, vast canyons, huge mountains, and unforgettable waterfalls.

Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park are both in the same vicinity. The Generals Highway connects the two, making it easy to see both parks.

Things to know before you go

  1. General Park Information - The park is open year-round, but in the winter months many roads are closed due to snow. Tire chains may be required for roads that do remain open.

A Park Pass is required to enter the park and can be purchased in advance or at the entrance. We recommend purchasing in advance to save time. For more up-to-date information, check the National Park Service for details. If you are planning additional trips to any of the other 62 National Parks, the America the Beautiful Annual Pass is a fantastic option. This pass provides you with unlimited access to all the National Parks in one pass.

  2. Lodging - Lodging within the park is limited so planning in advance is important. There are only three hotels within Sequoia National Park itself -

    1. Wukasachi Lodge

    2. Stony Creek Lodge

    3. Montecito Sequoia Lodge.

There are a couple of additional options in Kings Canyon.

    1. John Muir Lodge

    2. GrantGrove Cabins

    3. Cedar Grove Lodge.

There are also 14 Campgrounds between the two parks, but they are not always open year-round. Visit the NPS for permit and reservation information.

  3. Dining - There are a limited number of options within the park. We recommend doing a little research on the locations of each of these to save yourself a lot of driving time. Make sure to stock up on snacks and necessities before entering the park.

    1. The Peaks Restaurant at Wuksachi Lodge
Breakfast, lunch, & dinner are served year-round. Boxed lunches also available.

    2. Lodgepole Deli, Market, and Snack Bar

    3. Montecito-Sequoia Lodge
Offers a buffet option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in spring, fall, and winter.
